Uxbridge Parish Prayer Diary March 2010
 
1st
Please pray for our Church wardens: Helen, Sue, Alison and Martin and for the time they give serving Christ amongst us. May God bless them with wisdom and knowledge as they give of their time to enable church business/work to get done and as they seek to serve God.
2nd
Parent & Toddler Groups: Please pray for all those who attend Little Fishes; Little People’s Oasis and Praymates. May our groups be a place of safety, love and support to all who use them. May they find God, friendship and acceptance. 
3rd
Training in Drug & Alcohol Awareness for Coffee bar/St. Margaret’s staff team. Some people coming into the coffee bar may be struggling with these or similar problems – pray that we all may have the Lord’s compassion, but also wisdom, in directing each one to the help that is right for him/her.
4th
Haitiis still very much on God’s heart. We pray for Haiti and other parts of the world affected by natural disasters, war and famine.
5th
Women’s World Day of Prayer – meeting 2.00pm at St. Margaret’s. A good opportunity to pray for the unity of the whole Body of Christ all over the earth, remembering that “in Christ there is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:28)
6th
Street Angels – today is the second training Saturday for the new batch of 7 Street Angels. Pray that God will be preparing their hearts and minds and lives to join this ministry.

7th
Healing Prayer, 7pm at St. Margaret’s. Pray for all who need that fresh touch of the Holy Spirit to bring hope and healing, not just at this service, but at all our Sunday and weekday meetings.
8th
Alpha Courses – starting this week – pray for all on the teams running the courses to know the leading and empowering of the Holy Spirit, and that the Lord will attract those from all walks of life who are asking questions about the meaning of life and why Jesus is so special.

 
9th
We pray for the Revd Jeff Payne (husband of Liz, nee Moody) who is on placement with us looking at Town Centre Ministry as part of his curacy training. We pray also for anyone known to us who is in training for, or considering ordained ministry, including Annie McTighe and Suzanne Hosking.
10th
Business Lunch with speaker John Parmiter – “Being a Peacemaker” is the theme. We pray that the Lord will inspire John with insights that will be helpful to those who attend, and that the Oasis outreach to those working in and around Uxbridge will bear much fruit.
11th
Youth Work Management Team meet today – pray for God’s leading and refreshing for all those involved in youth work in the Parish, particularly Pete and Lizzie Telfer, and pray that the Lord will draw young people into His body, to realise that following Jesus is the best adventure they can ever go on!
12th
The Church in Congo – thank God for Bishop Funga and pray for the Lord’s protection and provision for His people in this very needy nation. Thank God for the vibrant faith of Christians in Africa and other areas of the world where there is poverty and often persecution.
13th
Cells Weekend Away (10-13) – pray that this will be a special time for the young people and leaders, that it will be good fun, and that relationships with God and each other will be strengthened…can we also pray for good weather?!
14th
Mothering Sunday – a day to thank God for our mothers, and also for our “mother church” in Uxbridge. Pray for those for whom this can be a difficult day for various reasons – may each one know that the love of God is like that of a perfect mother as well as father.
15th
Father, we just lift to you today all those in our congregations who preach, read the lesson or intercede at our services or lead midday prayers. We want to thank you for their ministry amongst us and ask you to bless all that they do or say to encourage us to grow in our relationship with you. Touch them today as you touch us through their ministry.
16th
Ministry to Students from Brunel University – let us remember Charles Sargent, Sue Curley and all who serve at the Chaplaincy to young people who can be feeling lonely and stressed – also that we will be a blessing to those students who visit St. Margaret’s and St. Andrew’s

 
17th
St. Patrick’s Day! Pray for special blessings for the Irish today, including the peace and unity of Christ to remain in that nation…Remember also the mental health carers group that meets in St. Margaret’s every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month.

18th
Church Councils and PCC – pray for those whom the Lord is calling to stand for election at the forthcoming APCM, particularly that the right Treasurer for St. Margaret’s will come forward. May all council members know the Lord’s wisdom individually and as a body!
19th
Bible study groups and Root groups meeting weekly in homes around the Parish, not to forget the ones that meet in church and in St. Andrew’s Vicarage – may these be special times of growing in our knowledge and love of God’s Word, and to support each other in prayer!
20th
Oasis Saturday Ministry – please lift up Patrick Colbert and the Saturday volunteers who help with what can be a stressful job at times in the coffee bar, and may God touch each one who comes in there according to their various needs. Above all, may each encounter Jesus for themselves!
21st
Pray today for our musicians, singers, sound and AV operators and those who help and encourage us to lift joyful voices to the Lord. May our words, actions and praise give glory to God and be an encouragement to each other.
22nd
Footprints group at St. M’s – please pray for anyone who is finding it hard to cope with the loss of a loved one, and also those who minister to them week by week during what can be a long and painful time. May those who are grieving find the courage to take the first step of coming in through the door!
23rd
The Amos Trust – remembering especially Ben Allen who has gone out to spend six months working with street children in Durban. Pray for awareness of the plight of street children to be raised through the “Street Children World Cup” being played there alongside the “real” World Cup!
24th
Fr. Cliff, Andrew, June, Joy – as Holy Week and Easter, busy times for the clergy, are approaching, may we pray for a fresh touch of the Holy Spirit on each one of them and their families, and for the Lord’s protection for our front-line warriors!
25th
“God so loved the world…” maybe each of us could pray today for a nation or area that is on our minds, for the kingdom of God to come, and His will to be done there – only as individuals are touched and changed by knowing Jesus, can communities and nations begin to see lasting change for the better
26th
PromiseLand Easter Special – pray that the Lord will draw in children from a wide range of backgrounds, and that many will come to know the real meaning of Good Friday and Easter Sunday for themselves and their families! Pray also for all those who faithfully help in PromiseLand and other children’s activities.
27th
Pray for George Norwood and Simon Harrison as they prepare things for Sunday’s worship.   May God give them the strength and the ability to do what is required and to encourage them as they work together enabling others to enter into the Sunday worship.
28th
Hosanna to the King of Kings!   Pray for the Palm Sunday procession and joint Parish service to be a joyful and powerful time of witness to the meaning of Holy Week and the change that Jesus can bring to a person’s life!
29th
School Easter Assemblies – June at Hermitage today, Andrew at Whitehall this week…quite a challenge to share the Easter story in a non church school. Please pray for the Holy Spirit to give sensitivity, and for hearts to be touched.
30th
“At the Cross”   Songs of Praise communion service, one of several times of focus on the Passion of Jesus this week. Please pray for newcomers to draw close to Jesus through this service.
31st
Today we lift to you all those who lead or help with “Time Out” or the “Rise n’ Shine” groups run at St. Andrew’s and for all those who attend. May these groups give opportunities to share with each other and build friendships and may God always be in the midst of them.
