The Alpha Course

Looking for answers? The Alpha course is an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed, non-threatening manner over ten, thought-provoking weekly sessions. It's low key, friendly and fun and it's a place where you can raise any questions, however big or small! Alpha is supported by all the main Christian denominations.

There are more than twenty four thousand Alpha courses running in 152 countries all over the world in churches of all denominations. More than 2 million people world wide have found it a worthwhile experience, completing the Alpha course in churches, homes, schools, universities and prisons.

In the Parish of Uxbridge we have been running a number of Alpha courses. In the past we have run Business Alpha, which is specifically tailored to those who work in Uxbridge and Alpha Express which is a 'fast track' lunchtime course ideal for those who have extra busy lifestyles! During the Autumn and Spring terms we have evening and daytime courses.

We hold our courses in relaxed and welcoming environments at St Margaret's or St Andrews Church.

The Alpha course is an ideal opportunity to meet and get to know other folk interested in Alpha. We are holding an Introductory Supper on Monday 26th September starting at 7.30pm at St. Margaret's Church. Our evening Alpha course starts on Monday 3rd October. Each Monday session runs from 7.30-9.30pm and will be held in St Margaret's Church. You are welcome to join as many as would be helpful to you.

We are also running a Alpha for Workers Course especially for those who work in the Uxbridge area. Starting on Tuesday 4th October and taking place at St Margaret's Church, each Tuesday session runs from 6.00pm to 7.15pm.

Each session includes a talk about a particualr aspect of the Christian faith We cover such topics as:

'Who is Jesus?'
'Why did Jesus Die?'
'Why and how do I pray'?'
'Who is the Holy Spirit?'
'How can I be sure of my faith?'

The last part of the session is spent in groups, which offer the opportunity to raise any questions and make friends. During each session there is space to reflect and enjoy light refreshments too.

Those who want to brush up on the basics
