Oasis Uxbridge is here to serve people in the centre of Uxbridge. St Margaret's Church stands in the heart of Uxbridge and, through the ministry of Oasis Uxbridge, seeks to share the love of God in Christ with those in Uxbridge Town Centre - workers, shoppers and those visiting the town for other reasons.
In line with our parish vision, the vision of Oasis Uxbridge is:
To see the lives of people in Uxbridge Town Centre transformed through knowing God's love and living Christ's way.
Broadly speaking, the ministry so Oasis involves three different aspects:
- Caring: We seek to demonstrate God's love through providing care and developing caring relationships. This happens in all sorts of different ways. Right at the heart of this is:
The Oasis Coffee Bar Open 10am to 2pm, Monday to Saturday Hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, snacks Providing a haven in the heart of Uxbridge The Open Church also offers a place to rest, re-focus and pray. Oasis also offers Confidential Listening Service and Chaplaincy Ministry to various organisations in the town. We are also delighted to be working in partnership with a number of organistions to serve our community in different ways through our involvement with different town centre networks.
- Helping people to live well and work well: Jesus said that he came to that we may have life and have it to the full.We want to see people enjoy the life that Jesus intended, so we provide a number of facilities aiming to help people in the process of living well and working well. For example:
- A varied programme of Business Breakfasts and Lunches, with speakers helping us to explore relevant issues.
- Praymates, for toddlers and carers.
- Footprints, a drop-in group which offers a warm welcome to people who have lost a loved one.
- Spiritual Exploration: As we go through life, many of us come face to face with the fundamental questions. Is there more to life than I am experiencing now? Is life really about 70 or so years on earth and then nothing or is there more to it than that? Is it possible to find real meaning, purpose and hope? Many people want to explore these questions and Oasis seeks to give them the opportunity to do so through a variety of different ways. For example through:
- Alpha Courses (daytime and lunch hour)
- Songs of Praise
- Midweek Communion Services
- Special Events at Festival Times
