WORSHIP AT ST ANDREW’S

St Francis of Assisi wrote,

“In this life we cannot touch or see anything physical of the most high except his body and blood”           (Letter to the Clergy: 3)

At the very heart of our worship at St Andrew’s is the special service called the Eucharist, Holy Communion or Mass.

Jesus gave us this holy sacrament during the Last Supper when he took the bread and wine. He gave thanks over them, then gave them to us with the words, ‘This is my Body’ and ‘Drink this all of you, for this is my blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.” (Matthew 26.26-27)

For us every Eucharist is an encounter with Jesus and with his healing, renewing love.

The Eucharist somehow connects us to our Lord’s sacrificial death. We do it because he told us to and because it gives us a chance to welcome as he comes to us in and through the bread and wine.

SUNDAY MORNINGS

8:00am.   Said Eucharist
Our 8am Mass is a said service with a short sermon and is for those with a quieter more reflective spirituality, for those who will be going out with the family later on, and for those who are on the early shift at work

10:00am.   Family Eucharist
The 10am Mass is a sung Family Eucharist with incense and a short sermon. Its style is gentle modern catholic with a good blend of old and new music assisted by the choir or on the second Sunday of the month by our very own church orchestra.

On the second Sunday of the month this service becomes our All Age Mass, which is slightly shorter than other Sundays because Junior Church stays with and often helps to lead the first part of the service.

SUNDAY EVENING WORSHIP

7:00pm COMPLINE
On the second Sunday of the month a small group of us gather in the Holy Spirit Chapel to say Compline or night prayer. Compline is a very beautiful short service based on the last monastic office of the day. In effect we are joining with Anglican and Roman Catholic monks and nuns all over Britain as we say the psalms and pray for God’s protection and peace. Compline is beautiful service. Do come and join us.

YOUTH PRAISE
Roughly once every other month we have an evening Praise Service for people of all ages. This is a lively service put together by our young people for anyone who likes modern music, plain talking and clear bible teaching.

MIDWEEK WORSHIP

Because we are in a team ministry with St Margaret’s Uxbridge our midweek pattern of services is shared across the Parish.

9:00am Morning Prayer
Come and join the Parish clergy as we say Morning Prayer in the Holy Spirit Chapel in St Andrew’s at 9am. (We meet every morning except Wednesday when St Andrew’s has the Mass for Mums and Toddlers and we meet for Midday prayers at St Margaret’s at 12noon).

MIDWEEK EUCHARISTS

(The Wednesday mass is a special Eucharist with lots of songs and a short child friendly story/ talk. It’s an ideal way of making your communion and enabling the very young to get used to being in church and taking part in worship).

We always have tea and toast in the Church hall from 9am till 9:20am so mums and carers can do a school drop off and then have a well earned cuppa before the service starts.
