Marriage Course

Who Is It For?

The Marriage Course is for any couple who want to work together at their relationship. Some couples who have attended the course at Holy Trinity, Brompton have been married for only 2 years, while others for more than 30 years. It is beneficial and enjoyable for those whose marriage is already strong. It also helps couples who are going through difficulties. Some couples who were separated or divorced have used the course as a way of trying to get back together again.

The Design Of The Course

The Length

The Course takes place over 7 evenings. The first four weeks are consecutive, and, after a break of one or two weeks, the last three are a fortnight apart.

Homework

In the evenings between the sessions the couples are encouraged to put into practice what they have learned. Each session includes some homework. This consists of exercises that the course participants are encouraged to do at home, to help them to continue their conversations in a constructive way.

The Cost

The cost is £60.00 per couple, which includes a candle-lit dinner each evening and the cost of materials for the course. We ask for payment on registration, to avoid administration on the session evenings, and to encourage commitment to the whole course.

Only couples may attend.

There is no group work, only couple discussions, and there is no feedback to anyone else, unless it is particularly requested of the leaders by a couple.

We ask participants to commit to attending each session, except in emergency. In cases of emergency, we try to arrange for an absent couple to borrow a tape of the talk they have missed.

These notes are taken from the leaders' guide for "The Marriage Course".
