St Margaret's Church
Root Groups

Root Groups are a fundamental part of St. Margaret's Church. They are made up of small groups of people normally meeting in someone's home, to love and care for one another and learn what it means to be a Christian in everyday life.

There are a number of groups operating in the daytime and evening.

Very loosely the groups seek to express our aim to love God, love one another and love our neighbour. They operate on these guiding principles:

WELCOME

This is the start of the meeting. It is here we have space for sharing, laughter, catching up on any news, supporting one another and generally having fun.

WORSHIP

We spend time worshipping God, sometimes with music. It's an opportunity to thank him and praise him for who he is.

WORD

A very important time to familiarise ourselves with God's teaching in the Bible. The studies are not heavy, they are practical, with an emphasis on applying Bible teaching to our ordinary everyday lives.

WITNESS

We aim for the groups not to be insular or inward looking. This is a time to reflect on witness to others, sharing experiences and learning from each other. The groups aim to have a social element to their pattern of meeting which allows opportunities to include others.

If you would like to join a Root Group, please ring the Parish Office and leave a message there with our Parish Administrator - Jane Hills on:01895 258766.
